City Clerk's Office
The City Clerk’s Office is responsible for the recording and management of all vital records involving births, marriages, and deaths occurring within the City.
The Office also conducts all local, state and national elections; issues many types of licenses including dog licenses, hawkers and peddlers licenses, raffle permits, and entertainment licenses; and maintains many of the City’s most important records.
Internally, the Office of the City Clerk views itself as an information source and communication conduit between the general public and city government.
Voter Registration Notice:
The filing period for all offices for the state primary election (September 14) began June 2nd and ended June 11. Once the filing period begins, voters are not allowed to declare or change their party affiliations prior to the Primary. As such, the last day for registered voters to change or declare a party affiliation prior to September 14th was Tuesday, June 1st.
State Raises Vital Records Fees Effective July 1, 2010
As of July 1st, the fee for issuing a certified copy of a birth, death, marriage, or divorce record will be $15.00. Additional copies of the same record ordered at the same time will be $10.00. The fee for a marriage license will be $50. Revenues from the increased fees go to the state's general fund; they are not city revenues. The current fees ($12.00 for a certified copy of a vital record, $8.00 for an additional copy of the same record, and $45.00 for a marriage license) will end at the close of business Wednesday, June 30th. Mail order requests for vital records received on July 1st or thereafter are subject to the new fee structure.
